Des Papillons, Papaver

PAPAVER

Poppies have always held a fascination for me. I bought a few bags of seeds to gain an understanding for their character. I sowed the nearly microscopical, black seeds and waited hopefully. Long stems ascended from the ground. The seed capsules remained closed for a long time until they finally opened, one by one. There were poppies of all the colors of the rainbow; some light and delicate, others dark and saturated. Some bow marked with black, some with white , and others completely solid colored. Their lifespan was usually a day, maybe two. I photographed them throughout the entire summer in the sun, the rain and the wind.
